Energy Saving Trust

April 10th, 2013

Committed to providing impartial, accurate and authoritative advice on reducing carbon emissions and also water usage the Energy Saving Trust (EST) is at the forefront of the domestic green economy. Working with communities and households on the ground as well as running UK-wide trials on new and emerging technologies allows the EST to act as a medium between national and local government, industry and millions of consumers.

The work the EST does with manufacturers and businesses allows it to promote its EST recommended logo scheme, based on the concept of allowing consumers and businesses to easily identify the most energy efficient appliances and products. Only products which meet strict environmental requirements are certified, for example only fridges which are A+ rated or higher. The certification process is reviewed annually by an independent panel to ensure the requirements always reflect development and changes within the market and technology. Look for the Energy Saving Trust logo to identify the most energy efficient products.

The EST also works with business to provide advice and training to ensure staff are able to offer relevant and complete advice for energy saving, by providing the knowledge to staff members the EST can ensure you receive first rate service as a result of their standard for best practice. As a consumer you can expect to receive advice which is practical and informative from any Energy Saving Trust trained staff member, the aim is to offer advice which you can act on to change your lifestyle and which helps you save money (an added benefit to adopting greener measures in your life).

Following the introduction of the Energy Bill in December 2010 the Department of Energy and Climate Change awarded the EST the contract to run the new energy saving advice service, launched in April 2012 the new government telephone advice line is open to the public’s calls to provide free, impartial and consistent consumer advice.

The EST website offers a large amount of advice and resources for consumers who are interested in finding out more about changing their lifestyle to save energy and money. The ‘generate your own energy’ tab gives you access to information about solar panels, heat pumps and financial incentives amongst others. Information on more environmentally friendly transport options and ways to save fuel is available in the ‘transport’ tab, advice on electric cars as well as more fuel efficient ways of driving is available.

A comprehensive ‘in your home’ information database is available and covers current and future green technologies which are designed to save you money and energy in and around the home, here you will find more about EST label recommended products and appliances.

Green and Easy is proud to be a partner of the Energy Saving Trust (we’re a Licensed Retailer with Energy Saving Trust Recommended) and looks forward to their continued success in promoting energy saving throughout UK homes and businesses.
