Multi-tools or combi-tools use a single power unit to drive a number of interchangeable heads or attachments. Because they share a single engine unit they are usually cheaper to purchase than buying each unit separately and for the same reason have a lower embedded carbon footprint so are more eco-friendly. Multi tool systems also have the advantage of being more portable than fixed shaft equivalents so are easier to transport for example to the allotment in the boot of car.
