The Smart Log Splitter is a great Swedish design which makes log splitting fun, easy, eco-friendly and equally importantly; very safe. The clever ergonomic design uses gravity to do all the hard work, applying up to 14 tons of splitting force whilst simultaneously avoiding all the backache that is often an unfortunate consequence of chopping wood by axe.
The Smart Log Splitter can be used in the garden, in a shed or even inside the house and integral 'splinting wedge' is perfect for making kindling. This took 5 mins to assemble and a further 15 mins to cut enough wood for several days. Its a great piece of equipment and safer around the garden than an Axe or Chainsaw. It feels like a quality made item.

I've had one of these for 3 years just after getting a wood burner. I tried using an axe and realised that would be a deal breaker for me; it was exhausting & I've no patience with all this 'butch' stuff that turns it into an endurance test!This is brilliant, I'm amazed what it will get through and it needs far less effort. I can also use it in the cellar in bad weather. Simple quick and easy with no melodrama or heroics.

I needed to purchase a log splitter for a friend. I needed to have this product shipped to Ireland as a matter of urgency. Green and easy where extremely helpful and didn't make promises they would not keep just to get the business. I had tried another company they and let me down badly. Green and easy promised a 3 day delivery (weather permitting) and that is exactly what they did so as far as I am concerned they more than deserve their 5 stars.

I've been using the Smart Splitter for over a year now, on various different types of wood. It's not the magic bullet I'd hoped for, but it is a safer way of splitting logs when my kids are around than using an axe. However, it's considerably slower (ie takes more strikes) than it takes to split logs with an axe IF you are strong and experienced. My father, who's worked with wood all his life, laughed when he watched me splitting logs with this, then took his axe and split them three times as fast. On the other hand, if you do not want to use an axe, for reasons of safety, back pain etc, then this is an excellent alternative. I've used it on really hard wood and on logs of 15" diameter and over; on hard or knotty wood it does often take a lot of strikes, but so would it with an axe.
It's easy to use but you do need a good, solid, heavy base log to fix it in to.
One other issue is whether you can leave the splitter outside or not. It's quite heavy to move, and especially when set into a heavy base log, so I wanted to be able to leave it set up where I'd use it - outside. It went rusty.

Just taken delivery of smart splitter and smart holder only ordered two days ago. Both items took a total of 5 mins to assemble and work perfectly. Friends have spent four times what these cost on electric splitters that arn't as versatile.

Received mine on Wednesday and have just been splitting chunks of tree trunks over 50cm across. Absolutely no problem at all and once they are cut in half making them into firewood is so easy. Many thanks for a brilliant tool.

just this minute tried it between spells of rain,and what can I say, I had an 80yr old beech tree cut down just 2 days ago so really wanted to try this out and it just sailed through 400mm wide 300mm depth logs no problems at all and its so safe as well, Bargain.

This really is amazing. It is so easy to set up, with the spanner and drill bit being supplied, and so easy to use. I deliver logs to my local area and can cut and fill a pick-up truck full of split logs inside 90 minutes. I have tackled logs up 19" diameter without any problems. With it's simple design you get the feeling it will last forever. I can wholeheartedly recommend this as an excellent piece of equipment.
