Black Mountain sheeps wool insulation is made in Wales from virgin UK wool, typically hill-farmed Swaledales and Welsh Black Face, hence the product is truly sustainable and environmentally conscious. Unlike fibreglass alternatives, it is totally safe to install requiring no protective clothing. Black Mountain sheeps wool insulation is a great natural alternative for loft insulation and is available in 6 standard sizes but a larger 125mm depth size is available to special order. Rolls are either 400mm or 600m wide and the table below provides pack and coverage details.  Once you have worked out the thickness and width you require, simply select the pack size from the menu above then enter the number of rolls you require. Black Mountain wool insulation is a general purpose natural wool fibre product designed for use in loft, rafter, internal wall and inter-floor applications. Specified to match and surpass the Part L Building Standards with reference to Thermal, Fire, Mould Resistance and Structural performance. Black Mountain Insulation is well suited to brick, timber and steel form construction applications, and offers improved thermal and acoustic ratings over many man-made materials. Wool insulation is not only breathable but also able to absorb, retain and release moisture without affecting its thermal properties or performance, Black Mountain insulation is ideal for breathable wall construction.

Environmental Information:  The manufacture of Black Mountain insulation requires only 15% of the energy required to manufacture mineral wool insulation. In use, the durability and moisture control properties of wool allow for a higher level of performance and longevity – retaining its insulating properties for the life of the building. Wool is naturally fire retardant and is treated with boron salts to heighten its vermin resistance.

Applications:  Black Mountain insulation is designed for use in new and existing buildings within the loft, rafter, internal wall and inter-floor use. Wool insulation is ideal for dry lining on external walls and throughout all parts of timber frame buildings.

Fire Standards:  Wool is naturally fire retardant; the material only chars since there is insufficient oxygen in the atmosphere to support combustion of wool. In the event of a fire, wool will not add to the fire risk and produces no toxic gases. All of our products are tested to: Euro Class C Building Regulations Part L BS:5803-4

Thermal Performance:  Wool insulation matches the following standards for loft, rafter and internal wall thermal requirements as follows:

• England / Wales Approved Document L1, L2 – Table 1
• Scotland Technical Standard Table J23
• N. Ireland Technical Booklet F – Table 1.2 / 1.4

CAMPER VANS & OTHER SMALL QUANTITY ENQUIRIES: We get a lot of calls about insulating camper vans, to save you calling in to check please note that the minimum delivery charge is £47.00 including VAT. This is the minimum charge because the wool is shipped direct from the manufacturer in North Wales by pallet. Wool is bulky and expensive to move around so we don't pay unnecessary charges to ship it into stock here because that only adds to the costs we would have to pass on. If you only need a small quantity for your van this means delivery seems disproportionately expensive, but remember a pallet holds a lot more than you need to order and would cost the same; with apologies it's just the minimum rate we have available to pass on.
