This high capacity Log Store is made from sustainably-sourced, sawn timber and has a large 1.45 cubic metre storage capacity. To put this capacity in context, current building regulations now recommend 1.5 cubic metres of storage for properties heated with wood burners.
* Please note, we have both larger and smaller capacity log stores available - please just click this link to view our full log store range.
A word of caution when you are comparing log stores - some competitive products are much smaller for about the same price, so please check you have calculated the right capacity to store enough seasoned, dry timber ready for when you need it!
We offer two accessories for this Large Log Store, the Rain Shield and a decorative Cedar Shingle Roof Kit (full details of both are below). We have put together a range of bundled options to buy these together with the Log Store, simply select the option you require at the top of this page.
Even with a large capacity log store many people are surprised how quickly they get through their wood and soon move to getting it delivered by the trailer or lorry load. This not only ensures you're less likely to run out on cold, dark evenings but can also keep costs down. It pays to store your logs properly so they dry out to give a cleaner and more efficient burn. For example, wood burning stoves ideally need wood with a moisture content below 25% otherwise they can lose as much as 80% of their efficiency in terms of heat generation. Wood with a high moisture content gives off much higher levels of smoke/pollution which is both more damaging to the environment and reduces the life expectancy of your flue. Our moisture meter helps let you know when your timber is sufficiently seasoned. Burning dry wood gives efficient, cost effective heating with wood burning stoves, or any type of wood burning, and is carbon neutral.
Either use the Wood Store for pre-dried timber to keep it dry, or to season your own wood. This large log store has been designed to encourage nature to naturally dry freshly sawn timber as quickly as possible. Dependent upon the wood type, diameter and length, and whether split or not split, this process can take anywhere between six and twenty-four months (the longer the better). If you have more than one wood burner, or you get through a lot of logs, you can easily use one (or two) Log Stores for wood to use now, and another to store wood seasoning in preparation for next year.
The Log Store is supplied flat-packed with comprehensive stage-by-stage instructions which make construction very straightforward. The only tools you need are a screw-driver (preferably battery powered), a hammer and a pair of helping-hands to lift it in-situ.
