MaxFan Woodburner & Stove Fan
We are delighted to be able to add the MaxFan to our range, not only because it is a fantastic way of improving the efficiency of your stove or woodburner so reducing your fuel costs, but also because it is precision engineered and hand built in the UK using the very highest quality components including a graphite piston, borosilicate glass cylinder as well as ultra low friction demagnetised bearings to ensure it is completely maintenance free.
Why would I need MaxFan? As most of us with a woodburner or stove will have experienced, one of the challenges is getting the lovely warmed air in proximity of the stove to distribute to an even temperature throughout the room. As a result we end up stoking up the stove only to achieve searing temperatures in its'immediate vicinity whilst struggling to get sufficient warmth throughout the rest of the room. MaxFan improves the efficiency and effectiveness of your woodburner by using a whisper quiet stirling engine which is powered by the heat of the stove surface to drive a fan which effectively circulates the heated air surrounding your stove through your room or workspace.
So Maxfan will help you reduce the amount of fuel you need to comfortably heat your rooms and cost absolutely nothing to run as it requires no power source other than the heat from the stove or woodburner surface.
How does MaxFan work? The clever stuff that powers Maxfan is something called a Stirling Engine which generates its' power from rapidly heating and cooling the same volume of air. When the air is heated, it expands, pushing the piston upward; when the same volume of air is rapidly cooled, it contracts, pulling the same piston downward providing power. The same volume of air is heated and cooled very rapidly converting the heat energy to mechanical energy used to turn MaxFans blade. The hotter your stove the faster MaxFan turns and therefore the volume of air circultaed increases. In this manner maxFan is self-regulating and also acts as a useful visual indictor of stove temperature (i.e. when the fan slows down , it might be time to consider throwing another log in the fire!)
